Students love Economics because it explains how the world works. Through learning a range of concepts, Economics students at KEGS learn to think as economists and develop a logical approach to considering economic problems and possible solutions. Students benefit from a variety of talks and webinars – recently participating in an online session with a Bank of England official. Students have enjoyed sixth form Economics conferences run by the Institute of Economic Affairs, often at KEGS and write a biannual Economics journal that informs staff and students alike of current developments in the economy. Students from the department take part in the iea Budget challenge, with the KEGS teams being national winners in 2022-23. In addition, students have been inspired to enter essay competitions and take part in the Student Investor competition.
