Before coming to the school, Catering Manager Jim Perry ran his own restaurant, the Hot House, in Chelmsford for over 13 years. At KEGS menus are rotated on a four weekly cycle and include a hot meal and a vegetarian choice every day along with a wide selection of sandwiches, rolls, wraps, pasta, jacket potatoes and salads. Changes are made for seasonal produce, all subject to thorough labelling of all known allergens. Dishes are made on site from scratch, using fresh ingredients, by our experienced catering team.
We are conscious of family budgets and endeavour to provide students a good choice of food they want to eat, at a reasonable price.
Students are most welcome to bring a packed lunch or break time snacks into school but as we have a number of pupils with nut allergies we ask that no-one brings nuts, or products containing nuts, into school. This includes peanuts. No nuts are used in our food preparation but we cannot guarantee and totally nut free environment.
These are available on a daily basis from the Hot Servery, Cold Servery and Salad Bar in the Kitchen and the Pasta Cart located in the Dining Room. Please ask one of our Canteen Staff for further details.
