PARENTS' ASSOCIATION

Introduction

The Parents’ Association has been in existence for over 50 years and became a registered charity in 1994.  It exists to promote links between the parents and the school whilst enhancing the facilities of the school by raising funds. As a parent of a child at KEGS, you are automatically a member of the Association. We have a committee made up of volunteers; parents like you who give their time to organise and plan activities with the active support of the Headteacher and his staff. The committee organises a number of fund raising events during the year; these events afford an important opportunity for you to meet other parents as well as enjoying yourselves.

Regular events/services include:
·
Summer & Christmas Fayresseasonal fun for all the family.
·              Quiz Nightsa Supper Quiz in the Spring for over 16s, plus a Family Quiz in the Autumn.

These regular activities are supplemented by other events run throughout the year at the committee’s discretion. The PA also assists the school by providing refreshments for every Parents’ Evening, 11+ and Induction day

Money raised by the PA is all channelled back into the school for the benefit of the pupils, by providing additional equipment and facilities which to date have included:

·              Contribution of £25,000 towards equipping the new Sixth Form Centre
·              Computers

·              Additional lockers

·              Screens and projectors for the School Hall, Music School and Library

With the passing of each School year, the Parents’ Association loses active members.  Their sons and daughters leave KEGS. It is vital therefore for new members to get involved. You can do this in several ways, whichever suits your lifestyle.  You can:

  • Help out at an event
  • Join our ‘Tea Team’ and help serve refreshments
  • Join our ‘Cake Makers’ providing cakes for the Fayres
  • Help out on the stationery stall
  • Donate raffle prizes or unwanted gifts
  • Support our fundraising events
  • Shop online – www.buy.at/kegspa - every purchase made raises additional funds for KEGS.
  • Join the Committee
  • Matching donations many employers subscribe to matching donation schemes for the benefit of registered charities. If you give a little of your time at one of our events, then you may be able to claim a matching donation from your employer.

If you would like to find out more, why not come along to any of our committee meetings. We meet once or twice a term from 7.30pm to 9.00pm. Alternatively speak to any of our members at one of our events.
