THE CURRICULUM & GCSE OPTIONS
The school aims to prepare pupils to become learners for life. The curriculum is balanced and diverse, broad at the outset but specialised in later years. Analytical and creative thinking are promoted as central to scholarship. The school's academic standards are evident in examination results. The commitment to academic breadth is reflected in the wide diversity of courses and universities chosen by students. The school aims to accommodate each student's subject choices, with a variety of new courses running alongside the more traditional core subjects. Interactive resources, film and multimedia facilities infuse teaching in all subjects. Learning is enriched with extended school visits, guest speakers, and activity days. The curriculum is a preparation for active citizenship, healthy living and productive employment.
A flavour of the areas covered by each department and any extra curricular activities offered can be found in The Chelmsfordian 2008/9.
