KEGS BAD WEATHER EMERGENCY CLOSURE ARRANGEMENTS

1.                  The decision to close the school rests with the Headteacher.  In his absence the decision will fall to the Deputy Headteachers, in conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team.  The school will only be closed as a last resort e.g. travelling becoming hazardous, or if school is not safe for students and staff.

2.         An announcement will be made on the school website and the local Radio Stations informed no later than 07.30am.

3.         If a decision were made to close the School, BBC Essex, Dream, Essex FM and Classic Breeze would be asked to broadcast the closure in order to inform parents. Parents would need to be listening to the radio and / or checking the school website.

BBC Essex on 95.30 FM, 103.50 FM or 729, 765 & 1530 Medium Wave

Essex FM on 96.30 or 102.60 FM or 97.50 FM

Dream 107.7 on 107.70FM

Classic Breeze/Classic Gold on 1359 Medium Wave or 1431 Medium Wave

 4.         As soon as it was known, the Radio Stations would be asked to broadcast the day of

 “re-opening”.

5.         In the event of the school closing due to worsening weather conditions during the school day necessitating closure, we will give as much notice as possible.  Any pupils that have problems getting home should report to the dining hall where the Senior Leadership Team will work together to ensure that these pupils get home safely. We will not allow pupils to leave the school site unless we are confident that parents are aware and approve of the arrangement.
