LINKS TO THE WORLD OF WORK

It is important that all of our students have opportunities to sample the world of work while in the Sixth Form.  We have an extended programme of World of Work events, including our annual Challenge of Management conference.

Challenge of Management

Each year KEGS runs a joint Challenge of Management Conference with Chelmsford County High School.  This academic year's conference for Year 12 students will be taking place on Thursday 8 and Friday 9 July 2010.

The aim of the conference is to make students more aware of the challenge of management in any organisation. Students take part in a series of activities and workshops over the two days of the conference, which are led by management advisers.

The conference requires about 30 advisers to work with groups of around 8 students for the two days and support them in the various activities. They will bring their own experience and will normally be managers, however junior, in their own organisations. Some companies use these occasions as part of their management training programmes.

The Challenge of Managemetn team are always keen to ‘recruit’ new advisers to such an event, not least due to our rising student numbers in the Sixth Form. Equally, if any parents would like to contribute to the sponsoring of the conference either as an individual or through his/her company, we would love to hear from you. This sponsorship could be a financial contribution, or the offer of printing some or all of our materials. If a parent were unable to arrange sponsorship themselves, but had a contact that I could approach within his/her company, this would be very much appreciated. Sponsors will have their names/company name (should they wish) placed in the conference brochure, which will be widely distributed.

If any parents feel that they are able to contribute to this year’s conference or would like more details and have not previously been involved, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please contact Mr Newman, Deputy Headteacher & Head of Sixth Form, to discuss any issues further.

Thanks as ever go to all of those parents and friends of the school who have contributed to this excellent conference in past years. We hope you are able to join us again for the next conference.
