The Jack Petchey Achievement Award Scheme is running in over 1000 schools, colleges and clubs.  Established in 1999, it started in East London, but now operates in all London Boroughs and in Essex.

It is a scheme to recognise and celebrate the achievements of young people, to help them take advantage of opportunities and to play a full part in society.  Grants of over £35 million have been given since the establishment of the Foundation.   From the Autumn Term 2007, KEGS are able to participate in this scheme.  Over the course of the school year, KEGS is able to make 8 awards to individual pupils.

The winner of each award receives a framed certificate and £200 in the form of a cheque made payable to KEGS.  The money is to be spent on a school or community project of the recipient’s choice.

Pupils can be nominated by their peers, staff, parents or governors (and need to fill in a nomination form which can be placed in the box in reception – blank forms available in reception or from the school website - see below).  Pupils should be nominated if they have done something really positive for other people or are exceptionally hard working.

Each of the three school councils choose an Award Winner for a pupil in their section of the school.

Our latest award winners are:-

Ethan Harridine - for services to geography
William Waine - for services to music and leadership of the Chamber Choir
Oliver El-Holiby - for services to music and leadership of the Chamber Choir

This time we have one award winner from the Lower School and two winners from the Sixth Form.  To compensate there will be two Middle School winners in the Spring term and one from the Lower School.
