MONDAY 6 FEBRUARY - ADVERSE WEATHER TIMETABLE
Following the recent heavy snowfall in Chelmsford, we will be trialling our new 'Adverse Weather Day' arrangements on Monday 6 February. KEGS will be fully open, across all year groups, but the lesson timetable will run from 09.30am to 2.30pm comprising 5 x 45 minute lessons. Please also note that the building will be open from 8 to 5 as normal for those students whose travel or home arrangements prevent them from arriving late or departing early.
The New York information evening, scheduled for Monday evening, will be rearranged for after half term.
PROPOSED CHANGE TO KEGS ADMISSIONS CRITERIA FOR 2013/14
We are consulting on plans to change our admissions arrangements for entry into Year 7 and Year 12 from September 2013. Click for our current
Admissions Policy and
Proposed Admissions Arrangements.
SIXTH FORM APPLICATIONS
Sixth Form Applications including the Prospectus and Options are now on line. Please go to the Sixth Form page for further details.
The Year 11 Options & Sixth Form Open Evening takes place on Tuesday 21 February at 5 pm in the School Hall. On this evening, to which KEGS students, prospective students and parents are invited, there will be a formal presentation (at 5pm and repeated at 6.30pm) which will give a detailed overview of A level and Pre-U option choices, including which subjects are essential for which courses and careers (it is recommended that you attend one of these sessions). Throughout the evening, there will be a chance to speak with Heads of Department and other teaching staff, as well as Ms Wiltshire (Head of Sixth Form), and other members of Sixth Form pastoral staff and the Senior Leadership Team. Current Sixth Formers will also be available to speak about their experiences in the Sixth Form. There is no need to book. Please note that there is no parking at the school - the nearest car park is accessed via Elms Drive, off Broomfield Road, and diagonally opposite KEGS.
ABSENCE LINE
We would like to request that, wherever possible, parents email absences - rather than phone - to absence@kegs.org.uk. Thank you.

Welcome to KEGS. It is a great honour and privilege for me to be the Headteacher of this remarkable school and I hope that our website conveys a sense of the passion and dynamism that students and staff bring to all that they do, making KEGS such a wonderful place to learn and to work. KEGS is one of England's leading state schools with a proud history dating back to its foundation in 1551 and now has a growing reputation as a leading-edge 21st Century Grammar School and a centre of excellence in learning.
